Work

At Two Rock, I'm wrapping up a substantial performance optimization project. I love watching all the different graphs get smaller in New Relic. Next up is building an elaborate form-building tool with branching logic and split-test capabilities. Complex forms that adapt to the user's path through them. There's a lot to figure out.

On the DEFNA side, we're deep into planning DjangoCon US 2026, which will be back in Chicago. Currently reviewing talk submissions and working on the program. If you submitted, we're reading.

Reading

Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins and VALIS by Philip K. Dick. Both were published in the early 1980's and are definitely a product of the 1970's. Both lean heavily into alchemical and gnostic themes.

Garden

Starting flowers now. Just enjoyed a run of amaryllis blooms—they blow my mind every year. Getting ready to start tomatoes: Matt's Cherry and Agi Red. My own AGI quest will be fruitful.

Stomach

Lately: bar food at The Federal and Dain's Place. Durham continues to be an excellent place to eat.
